VAN ANDEL INSTITUTE

NEVER STOP FIGHTING

WHAT IS THE VAN ANDEL INSTITUTE (VAI)?
PURSUING BOLD IDEAS AND BIG BREAKTHROUGHS

“Van Andel Institute began with a vision: to improve human health.

“Founded by the Van Andel family in 1996, the Institute is now home to more than 400 scientists, educators and support staff – each one of us deeply connected to the work we do and driven by an urgent desire to make a difference.

“Every day, we collaborate at the forefront of fundamental and translational science in pursuit of breakthrough treatment strategies for cancer, Parkinson’s and other diseases. Through shared values and an entrepreneurial spirit, we spark innovation to multiply the impact of discovery and answer critical questions for our world.”

OUR CONNECTION TO VAI
MEET GEORGE SHARPE, SR.

George Sharpe, Sr. founded SHARPE Cars 40 years ago, back in 1982. His leadership has seen our dealership undergo many different construction projects as SHARPE has grown to include BMW, MINI, Jaguar, and Land Rover.

In 2009 George Sr. was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. George has since stepped down from his General Manager duties at SHARPE, and his son, George Sharpe, Jr., has taken on the General Manager position.

Since his diagnosis, the Sharpe family has become active advocates for research and development of treatment strategies through VAI in downtown Grand Rapids. With 100% of donations directly being spent on research, when supporting the Institute, your donation will assist in “improving human health.”

HOW WE ARE CELEBRATING THE VAN ANDEL INSTITUTE

During the month of February we are asking for donations to assist in supporting the research that VAI does for Parkinson’s disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s.

This month SHARPE will match up to $4,000 for every dollar donated to the Institute through the link below.
