Community Spotlight:
be nice.

Promoting
mental health
awareness and
preventing
suicide through
education.

In honor of Suicide Prevention Month, SHARPE is proud to feature the September Community Spotlight: be nice. The be nice. program, run by the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan, equips individuals with the knowledge to understand and take action when it comes to mental health.

When used effectively, the be nice. four-step action plan – to notice, invite, challenge and empower – encourages individuals to challenge themselves and others to seek appropriate professional help when they notice mental health changes or concerns. This program provides schools, businesses, faith institutions and communities with the knowledge and confidence to be proactive when it comes to mental health and suicide prevention.

SHARPE is a dedicated supporter of be nice. and is proud to partner with them in this essential work.

If you’re thinking about suicide or you’re worried about a friend or loved one, and need immediate help, please call 911 or the Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 988.
